Archival Giclée Paper Print of my favourite fairy from my recent series of medicinal plant fairies.
Kawakawa prints come with a mini card set of the 8 fairies I've illustrated so far, with their descriptions on the back.
Kawakawa is abundant around Aotearoa and easy to identify with it’s heart shaped leaves and yellow veins! It’s a powerful healer, widely used in Rongoā (Māori medicine). It has strong anaesthetic properties as well as anti inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and can be used internally and externally. Kawakawa leaves are often covered in holes, eaten by the kawakawa looper moth, those are said to be the best leaves to harvest because they have more active compounds.
The Kawakawa fairy is based off a reference photo of my friend Yazmin sitting in a pohutukawa tree!
