I got the idea for this painting while admiring a tree covered in epiphytes (those beautiful plants that grow all over and live off trees). I thought they would look cool wrapped around a person.
I decided to paint the figure embracing a tree to help emphasize that connection.
What I like about being in nature is that you can let your thoughts dissolve by allowing the sounds of nature to pull you into the present moment, into states of awe and quiet awareness. That is the feeling I'm trying to get across in this artwork.
